This issue

Total US med spa searches came in at roughly 11 million in the August '26 snapshot, down 6% from the prior month. A drop this size late in summer may be partly seasonal, so read month-over-month moves with that in mind.

Medical weight loss remains the category leader at about 2.17 million searches, 12% ahead of laser hair removal at about 1.94 million, and has held the top spot in 10 of the last 12 months. Rising month-over-month treatments include polynucleotides, up 19%, and skin tightening, up 10%, while laser hair removal searches fell 12% and body contouring fell 13% — again, late-summer timing could be a factor.

For a steadier read, Google Trends year-over-year interest tells a different story: red light therapy is up 14%, microneedling up 17% and dermal fillers up 23%, while medical weight loss interest is down 15% and NAD is down 38%. These are relative interest figures, not search counts.

What to do with it

  1. 1Keep medical weight loss central to your offer and marketing, but watch the softening year-over-year interest.
  2. 2Test content and promotions around rising interest in red light therapy and microneedling heading into autumn.
  3. 3Treat this month's declines in laser hair removal and body contouring as possibly seasonal before cutting budget.

Since the data: weekly Google interest

Search volumes arrive monthly; Google Trends shows the weeks since. Average interest over the four weeks to October 24, 2026, compared with the same weeks last year (the fair read — it cancels out seasonality) and with Aug '26, the month our search data covers. Trends figures are relative interest, not search counts.

How this issue is made

Every number is computed in code from two sources: monthly US Google search volumes for each treatment's keyword cluster (Sep '25 – Aug '26, via DataForSEO), and weekly Google Trends interest through DataForSEO's licensed API. The written summary is drafted by an AI model from those figures only, and an automatic check rejects any draft containing a number that isn't in the data. Weekly Trends are read only for treatments with 100k+ monthly searches — smaller ones are too noisy week to week. See our methodology.

Next issue: around November 12, 2026.
