How much does med spa SEO cost?

Real prices from the agencies that publish them — not a vendor's "it depends." 11 published price points, three honest tiers, and the math on whether it pays back.

Quick answer

Med spa SEO typically costs $1,000–$5,000 a month. The SEO prices med spa agencies publish run from $199/month for a productized local-SEO plan to $8,000/month minimums for premium SEO, and mainstream managed SEO sits at $1,500–$3,500/month (Zio Advertising, Incredible Marketing, Medstar Media). Full-service retainers that bundle SEO with ads and creative start anywhere from $1,250 to $10,000/month. Expect 6–12 months before results compound.

The three price tiers — and what you get

Productized / starter

Under $1,000/mo

Usually a platform or a fixed local-SEO package: Google Business Profile upkeep, listings and citations, a set number of posts or pages. Good for a single location getting the basics right; rarely includes real content or link building.

Managed SEO

$1,000–$3,999/mo

A dedicated team doing local + organic SEO for one location: treatment and location pages, technical fixes, ongoing content, review strategy and reporting. This is where most established single-location med spas land.

The costs that aren't in the headline price

  • Setup or onboarding fees — commonly a one-time fee in the low thousands for audits, tracking and initial fixes. Ask whether it's credited if you leave early.
  • Per-location pricing — some agencies price SEO per location (Medstar Media publishes its rate per location, for example), so a three-location group can pay close to three times the headline number.
  • Content and links billed separately — the two things that actually move rankings are the first cut from cheap packages. Confirm how many pages, posts and earned links are included each month.
  • Minimum terms — 11 of the 63 SEO agencies we track state month-to-month terms; most don't say. A 6–12 month lock-in isn't automatically bad for SEO, but it should come with a written plan and exit terms.
  • Website work — if your site is slow or thin, SEO may require a rebuild or new treatment pages first, usually quoted as a separate project.

Is it worth it? The ad-equivalent math

The fairest way to judge an SEO retainer is to ask what the same clicks would cost as Google Ads. These are the national average cost-per-click for med spa treatment searches from our treatment demand data:

Treatment searchesAvg. cost per click100 organic clicks ≈ in ads
Medical Weight Loss$24.17$2,417
Laser Hair Removal$17.97$1,797
Botox$12.78$1,278
IV Therapy$8.24$824
HydraFacial$6.13$613
Lip Filler$6.09$609
Dermal Fillers$5.90$590
Microneedling$3.49$349

A worked example: a single location that earns 150 organic clicks a month from Botox and laser hair removal searches is getting traffic that would cost roughly $2,310/month to buy as ads — more than the $1,500 median retainer, and organic clicks don't stop when the budget does.

The honest caveats: clicks aren't bookings (your site and front desk decide that), rankings take months, and local competition varies hugely by city. Use the math to compare a quote against the alternative, not as a promise. If an agency guarantees rankings, treat it as a red flag.

How to sanity-check an SEO quote

  1. Can they rank themselves? An SEO agency invisible on Google is selling a skill it can't demonstrate — see who can on our med spa SEO agencies page.
  2. What exactly ships each month? Pages, posts, links, GBP updates — in numbers, in writing.
  3. What do they report? Calls, form fills and booked consults beat rankings and impressions.
  4. Who owns the work? Your website, content, Google Business Profile and analytics should stay yours if you leave.
  5. What are the terms? Monthly fee, setup fee, minimum term, notice period. Compare like-for-like across two or three agencies.

Quick questions

How much does SEO cost for a med spa?

Most med spa SEO retainers run about $1,000–$5,000 a month. The SEO-specific prices agencies in our directory publish range from $199/month for a productized local-SEO plan to $8,000/month minimums for premium SEO, with mainstream managed SEO at $1,500–$3,500/month. Full-service retainers that include SEO alongside ads and creative start anywhere from $1,250 to $10,000/month depending on scope.

Why don't most SEO agencies publish their prices?

Only 22% of the SEO agencies we track publish any pricing at all. Some genuinely scope each clinic (markets and competition differ a lot), but a missing price also makes comparison shopping harder. Ask for a written scope with the monthly fee, setup fee, minimum term and exactly what's delivered each month before you sign.

How long does med spa SEO take to work?

Expect early local wins (Google Business Profile, map-pack visibility, fixing technical issues) in the first 2–3 months and meaningful growth in treatment searches over 6–12 months. SEO compounds — which is why short contracts with a lock-in clause are a poor fit, and why month-to-month with a clear plan is the healthier structure.

Is SEO cheaper than Google Ads for a med spa?

Over time, usually yes — but it isn't either/or. Ads buy clicks today (Botox searches average about $12.78 a click nationally); SEO earns clicks you stop paying for per visit once you rank. Many clinics run ads for immediate bookings while SEO builds, then shift budget as organic rankings take over.

What should be included in a med spa SEO package?

At minimum: Google Business Profile optimization, local citations, technical fixes, treatment and location pages, ongoing content, a review strategy and monthly reporting tied to calls and booked consults — not just rankings. Link building and new content are where cheap packages usually cut corners.
